Title: Local Area Network Design and Construction

Objectives: Student will work in a 'hands-on' environment and work towards expanding skill-sets and knowledge-base in:

a) LAN design and construction.

b) Desktop computer hardware software design and installation.

c) WAN satellite based IP network design and construction.

d) Windows 2003 Server network design and support.

e) Equipment acquisitioning in a production environment.

Tasks:

1. LAN - Install ethernet cabling, patch-panel cabling, cable-ends, end-drops, central cable housing,.
2. Desktop - Software/hardware-setup and troubleshooting, install electrical interface, config. security software, config. WAN interface, config. user interface.
3. WAN - Requisition NIA satellite interface, install satellite antenna and modem, config. and integrate system with ITS lab.
4. Server - Install, config. and troubleshoot server software, develop instructor interface.
5. Attend - all meetings and coordinating events for the ITS lab construction and use throughout the semester.
6. Report to ITS Lab manager and Instructor as needed...at least once per week throughout the semester.

Deliverables: Complete and fully functionally production ITS LAB, Daily log of activities throughout the semester.
